Georgian Bay Explorer

Over the years, thousands of episodes of the Georgian Bay Explorer were aired on Bayshore Broadcasting’s CFOS radio station, delighting listeners with a daily account of the culture and heritage of the region. The long-time voice of the Georgian Bay Explorer was radio broadcaster Ross Kentner. Past OSNGUPL Chief Librarian and author / historian Andrew Armitage (1939-2021) researched and wrote The Georgian Bay Explorer.

We have received permission from Bayshore Broadcasting to host the existing audio files so that the public can continue to enjoy these historical tales about our community.

Other OSNGUPL Digital Resource Projects

The Georgian Bay Explorer audio files are one of the online resource projects of the Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library. In coming months, other digital collections will include both the radio scripts of the Georgian Bay Explorer and the Off Our Shelves / Read This book review articles written by Andrew Armitage. We are also working on a project to digitize some of the local high school yearbooks. More information will be posted here as the projects are completed.
