Looking for a fun and valuable volunteer experience this summer? Join Reading Buddies! The Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library is now accepting registration for the Summer Reading Buddies Program!
Children in grades 1-5 who are looking for additional reading help over the summer can meet one-on-one with a volunteer mentor for one hour each week through July and August. This will give them the opportunity to develop their literacy skills and avoid the summer slide.
We are also in need of volunteer Reading Buddy mentors. High school students or adults can mentor a child for a minimum of one hour per week. Students can use these hours for their community involvement activities.
Together mentors and buddies talk, find books, play literacy games and make reading fun!
The deadline to apply is June 7.
